VIDEO: ‘Pussy Riot’ members considering a run at municipal politics

BERLIN – Two members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot say they may run for seats in this year’s election for the Moscow city parliament.

Nadia Tolokonnikov, appearing alongside fellow band member Maria Alekhina at an event on the sidelines of the Berlin film festival Monday, said the move into politics “is worth a try.”

The election will most likely be held in September, although no exact date has been set.

Tolokonnikov and Alekhina were released in December after nearly two years in jail. They were convicted of hooliganism after staging a protest in a Russian church.
