WELLESLEY — A statue of a man sleepwalking in his underwear is the talk of Wellesley College.
The sculpture is part of an exhibit at the school’s museum and was erected on the all-girl campus earlier this week, according to Daily Mail. But some of the school’s students have complained that the statue is just plain scary.
Hundreds of students have signed an online petition on Change.org to have it removed.
The petition states in part:
“The sculpture of the nearly naked man on the Wellesley College campus is an inappropriate and potentially harmful addition to our community that we, as members of the student body, would like removed from outdoor space immediately, and placed inside the Davis Museum. There, students may see the installation of their own volition.”
The petition also said the sculpture has become a source of apprehension and fear across campus.
